Danish immigrant Andrew Frost founded a tomato farm in the settlement of Modello in the 1890s that grew into a multi-million-dollar industry; by the 1910s Dania (incorporated 1904) was shipping 1,000 to 1,500 railcars of tomatoes a season through 14 packing houses and 2 canning factories, a legacy celebrated at the first Tomato Day Festival in 1927.
